As a rising region in the wine industry, Paso Robles provides the grapes necessary to develop well-rounded, structured wines, but it was important to Charles to work with someone with both an understanding of the land and a deep connection to Paso Robles itself.
Enter Amanda Gorter, Intercept’s Head Winemaker and a native of California’s Central Valley. After graduating from UC Davis with a degree in Biology and a Winemaking Certificate, Amanda spent years training under some of the industry’s best winemakers.
Amanda’s relentless dedication to the craft and creativity in winemaking transforms hand-selected grapes from Paso and Monterey vineyards into our award-winning line of Intercept Wines.
“I love it in Paso Robles; this is where I want to be making wine in 20 years. I’m from the Central Valley, and my family has a background in California agriculture that goes back three generations. I always wanted to experience new places but didn’t want to give up my small-town and farm-town roots. That’s what made Paso Robles perfect for me - the land and people are so authentic. Here we can make honest wine for real people.”
- Amanda Gorter, Winemaker for Intercept Wines
Together, Amanda and Charles develop each varietal to complement Charles’ distinct preferences. He prefers medium-bodied Pinot Noir, a Cab with approachable tannins, and Red Blends with a long, lingering finish. Together, Charles and Amanda deliver wines that are bold and expressive – while being authentic to the places they’re from.
“Intercept reflects my personal journey, my experience, and my taste. I'm a California guy; I like big, bold Cabs, I like fruit-forward flavors, all of which you get in Intercept Wines,”
